Indian Rummy
Indian Rummy is a 13 card rummy form and as the name suggests it is a very popular rummy form in India.
Indian Rummy is considered to be a cross between Gin Rummy and Rummy 500. The objective of Indian Rummy is pretty much the same as any rummy form, which is to form melds in the form of sets and sequences. Two kinds of sets are possible: a run of consecutive suited cards, and three or four of a kind (with no duplicate suits.) The basic requirement for winning a hand is at least two sequences, one of which must be "pure", i.e., made without any jokers.

Knock-out Rummy:
It is played between 2 players. The winner is decided by the lowest total score after a specified number of games (usually 2 or 3)
Points Rummy (a.k.a Strikes Rummy):
This is the fastest form of multi-player Indian Rummy. As the name suggestes, the points have a pre-decided rupee value and the player plays for these points. Each game usually lasts for one deal only and the winner takes all the cash.
Pool Rummy:
This is a multi-player form of rummy and a slower Indian Rummy format. However it involves great skill.
The winner is decided based on elimination of players after each deal or a set of deals. A player is eliminated after he / she accumulates a pre-decided maximum points (usually 101 or 201) after a deal or a few deals. The player with the least points at the end is declared the winner.
